FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long are the classes?
All classes are 60 minutes in duration. There is generally a break of 15, sometimes 30, minutes between classes to make sure you get a full hour-long class. This allows time for a chat, you can ask questions or get information about other services I offer.

  2. For how many weeks do the courses run?
Most courses run for seven to nine weeks. Courses run in consecutive weeks, unless specified at the beginning of the course. Courses might be shorter due to a public holiday e.g. Easter, St. Patricks Day, Christmas break.

  3. How many participants are in the classes?
To allow a good degree of individual attention and advice there is generally a maximum of eight to ten class participants per class. The only exception is Taney’s Over 60 Pilates and Fitness classes – there we might have twelve participants per class occasionally.

  4. What do you need to bring along to the Pilates classes?
Please bring a Pilates, Yoga or Exercise mat along. This Pilates mat is ideally around six foot in length and at least three to four millimetre thick (six to ten millimetre is even better for some of the rolling moves). I bring normally one to two spear mats along that you might use once or twice, but it is advisable to bring your own mat for hygiene reasons. Wear loose clothing, a t-shirt or polo-shirt, tracksuit bottoms, possibly shorts. You choose if you want to do the exercises bare feet or in socks. Maybe a small bottle of water.

  5. Where do I find the health screening form that I need to fill out in advance of the first class?
Here a link to a pdf-version of the health screening form. Please bring the form along to your first class or e-mail me the form at latest one or two days in advance.

  6. Is free parking available at the venues?
Yes, there free parking available beside the following venues (1) Sandyford Community Centre, Dublin 18, (2) Taney Parish Centre in Dundrum, Dublin 16, (3) Sandyford, Belarmine Community Centre, Dublin 18, near Stepaside.

  7. When shall I arrive?
Please arrive at least five minutes before the class starts to leave enough time to get set up and avoid having to rush around. This will allow you to be more relaxed, enjoy the class more and get more out of the class.

  8. How long do you work as personal trainer and fitness & Pilates instructor in South Dublin, Ireland?
In summer 2002 I qualified with the NTC – National Trainer Centre (off Dorset Street in Dublin 2. Ireland) as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.

Over the years I qualified as Pilates Instructor, Gym-Stick Instructor, Reebok Deck instructor, Kettlebell instructor, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Practitioner) and I hold a BSC in Electronics and Telecommunications ( I worked for five years as Software Engineer, Programmer and Hardware Design Engineer in Dublin 18).
